Daisy

The gerbera, or daisy as they are also called, is a tropical plant native to many South American, African, and Asian countries. Popularly known as the African daisy, this flower nowadays comes in all colors and combinations of colors.

Popular Flowers

The gerbera is ranked as the fifth most popular flower in the commercial flower market. The meaning stems from the general daisy family and stands for innocence and purity, as well as being a classic symbol of beauty. However, the gerbera variety holds an added meaning of cheerfulness, which is attributed to the numerous colors. They are believed to lessen everyday stressors.

Gerbera Flamazing Care Tips

  • Look for flowers with firm, straight stems and firm petals. Avoid flowers with soft, limp stems and/or petals, brown stem tips, and brown centers, as well as flowers with more than half pollen shed in the center
  • Because gerberas are sensitive to pollution, it is extra important to use a clean vase (preferably made of glass)
  • Cut the stem 2-3 cm with a clean, sharp knife or scissors
  • Gerberas don't need much water; half a liter of water with flower food gives the best results with a mono bunch or in a bouquet
  • Keep flowers away from drafts, heat, and direct sunlight
