Thank you for visiting our digital stand here at the TOTF where we invite you to learn more about why our customers choose to grow with Philips LED solutions.
Our customers speak
We love to tell you all about our solutions, but who can explain this better than our customers? Learn from their experience by reading their stories and quotes, seeing their pictures and video’s on how they improved efficiency and sustainability while growing quality flowers. If you have any questions on how you can improve your crop with our Philips LED Solutions, please contact our Floriculture colleagues via this link.
The latest additions to our portfolio
In January 2020 we’ve launched our latest additions to our portfolio: The next generation Philips GreenPower LED Toplighting Linear, and the Philips GreenPower LED Toplighting compact modules.
Our linear modules with outputs ranging from 520-1000 µmols/s are the perfect solution for growers that have a limited distance between the lights and their crop or want to go for optimal uniformity of the lights. The Toplight Compact modules have an output from 1650-2650 µmols/s and are the perfect solution for light-loving crops and to reduce your energy bill. This one-to-one HPS replacement has an efficacy of up to 3.6 µmol/J. With these latest additions, Signify offers the flower growers, plant raisers, and breeders a broad range of products to find a tailor-made solution for every situation and every customer need. Whether they need uniformity, efficacy, high output, we’ve got the product for you.
Philips GreenPower LED Toplighting Compact
In 2019 we’ve introduced our first Toplighting Compact modules as the first one-to-one HPS replacement. At the beginning of 2020, we’ve extended this portfolio with a High Output version (with an output up to 2650 µmols/s) for light-loving crops, a High Efficacy version (with an efficacy up to 3.6 µmol/J) to reduce energy costs, a Cost Effective version for lower initial investment and an Optimized Performance version for balanced performance.
Here are some examples of floriculture growers that have chosen for our Philips Toplight Compact modules:
Lugt Lisianthus
Marcel van der Lugt from Lugt Lisianthus
“We’ve chosen for Signify because of their quality and reliability. On top of that we think the Philips GreenPower LED is the best module available on the market. It’s compact and has a long lifetime”
-Marcel van der Lugt from Lugt Lisianthus.
Van der Harg (Potted Roses)
Wouter & Pieter van der Harg, who took over the company from their father Leo.
“Because LEDs do not generate any radiant heat, it is possible to control the temperature and the lighting separately. The investment will pay for itself straight away, not just because of the energy savings but also because of the improvement in plant quality. We believe that LEDs are the future. That is why we are opting now for LED lighting. This will mean our business is ready for the future.”

Arcadia (Chrysanthemum)
Bart van Ruijven, co-owner Arcadia Chrysanten
“Our chrysanthemum stems are much heavier when grown under the hybrid lighting.”
-Bart van Ruijven, Co-owner Arcadia Chrysanten, The Netherlands
Philips GreenPower LED Toplighting Linear
As said, next to the Toplight Compact range we have our Philips Toplight linear range which is the perfect solution for growers that have a limited distance between the lights and their crop or want to go for optimal uniformity of the lights. The outputs of our linear modules range from 520-1000 µmols/s and have an efficacy of up to 3.3 µmol/J. Here are some examples of floriculture growers that have chosen for our Philips Toplight linear modules:
Marjoland
Daniel van den Nouweland from Marjoland
One of the challenges for a high-tech rose grower is to maintain the same flower quality all-year-round, due to the differences between the seasons. As Daniel van den Nouweland, General Director of Marjoland, the largest rose grower in the Netherlands says:
“the secret to growing the perfect rose is all about doing everything right, every day”.
Signify’s LED modules allow Daniel to increase light levels without generating additional heat, so his roses are grown under stable light conditions all year-round. This way they can guarantee consistent quality and vase life, resulting in happy returning customers and consumers. For more information on the Philips LED solutions at Marjoland click on the following video:
Van Belle (Potted plants)
“I’m very happy with the Philips LED lights that we have here… it’s a game-changer for our company.”

Holstein Flowers (Gerbera)
Hans van Holstein Managing Director for crop and innovation at Holstein Flowers
“We chose to work with Signify because they are the market leader in LED lighting in horticulture,”
explained Hans van Holstein, Managing Director for crop and innovation at Holstein Flowers.
“So far, they are the most knowledgeable and experienced in growing gerberas with LED lighting and developing dedicated crop light recipes. This makes Signify the best suited partner to meet this challenge. I was impressed with the commitment and flexibility of the team”.

Besides our Toplighting LED solutions we also have our Philips GreenPower LED Production Modules for multilayer and/or Indoor growing facilities (without daylight).
At Karel Bolbloemen B.V. these Production Modules were installed in combination with our GrowWise Control System allowing them to adjust the spectrum during the course of the growth cycle to promote specific growth characteristics, such as stronger stems for its tulips.
Bert Karel, owner of Karel Bolbloemen B.V.
“The new Philips GrowWise Control System gives us the flexibility to adjust light recipes at any moment of the day which gives us new insights to optimize plant growth. With the new Philips LED lighting system it is possible to keep the tulip stems short and compact which makes the tulips stronger.”
-Bert Karel, owner of Karel Bolbloemen B.V.
The right light, at the right time, in the right place
The last LED solution we want to highlight is our Philips GreenPower LED Flowering Lamp. The GreenPower LED Flowering Lamp is an effective, energy-efficient way to extend daylight in greenhouses that cultivate a.o. Cut Flowers, Bedding Plants & Perennials.
Eddy Verbeek, General Manager Florensis
At Florensis Kenya they’ve been experiencing the benefits of Philips LED lighting since 2010 and are now exploring the possibility of moving to a 100% LED system.
“This takes our operations to the next level with over 93% reduction in energy usage and prevention of early flowering"
More than 40 years ago growers started to grow their crops using HPS artificial light. They found that increasing the light hours and intensity has a positive effect on production and quality. Then, 14 years ago, Signify (formerly known as Philips lighting), was the frontrunner in pioneering new technology, with significant advantages over HPS. LEDs don’t emit as much heat as HPS and are much more energy-efficient. More importantly, LEDs enable the development of customized light recipes.
In cooperation with Universities and partners, Signify developed over 150 light recipes across different horticultural crops, creating the perfect light spectrum (the combination of different light colors) for each crop. Roses, for instance, have different light needs than chrysanthemums. The possibilities with LED have many advantages for the whole value chain from breeder to consumer.
